A friendly explainer introducing the NSPCC's Baby Steps programme
“Kino Bino have been great to work with. Throughout the project they were organised, efficient, understanding, on schedule and flexible when we needed more time to get lived experience feedback at different stages of the project helping us to add real credibility to the animation.”
CLIENT
Iliffe Ward is a Leicester-based video production company specialising in high-quality, impactful content for businesses and charities.
The NSPCC (National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children) is the UK’s leading children’s charity, dedicated to preventing abuse, helping children recover, and campaigning for a safer future for every child.
BRIEF
The NSPCC required a 90-second animated explainer to promote their Baby Steps service.
The animation needed to clearly explain the service, a free, friendly group that empowers parents-to-be, builds their confidence and helps them feel ready for the arrival of their new baby.
The goal of this film was to encourage referrals from healthcare professionals and invite parents-to-be to join these free support groups.
The client provided the script, voice-over, brand guidelines and character illustrations, and our task was to translate this static style into animation. It was vital that the content felt inclusive and spoke directly to families who often face the greatest challenges, while being accessible in both Welsh and English.
RESULTS
Iliffe Ward and the NSPCC were delighted with the final video. For us, this was a fantastic opportunity to work on another project that truly empowers parents and families.
We were able to expertly adapt their existing illustrations, turning them into an engaging animation that brought the service to life. The final result successfully promotes the programme, encouraging new parents to build their skills and confidence for the journey ahead..
“Our experience of working with Kino Bino has been extremely positive.
I wouldn’t hesitate to work with them again.”
THE PROCESS
For our characters, created in After Effects, using our favourite plugins - Joysticks n Sliders and Limber, we had the challenge of creating see-through rigs to stay true to the original illustrations allowing the amorphous blobs behind the characters to shine through.
