ANIMATED SEQUENCE AND MOTION GRAPHICS FOR CBBC’S ‘MY LIFE’ SERIES

Image Nova is a talented, local live-action studio in Leicester - an enthusiastic team who are dedicated to providing groundbreaking content and telling unique stories.
Since 2019, the BBC Children's and Education division has been responsible for all BBC children’s content, including the CBeebies and CBBC channels.
BRIEF
We collaborated with Image Nova on the initial pitch to CBBC - offering our animation services to help enhance several episode ideas for the ‘My Life’ series. Through Image Nova’s go-getting approach and our eye-catching animation ideas, we won the contract and the ‘Fighting for Fashion’ story was chosen.
RESULTS
Our first broadcast collaboration has resulted in an engaging, informative piece of animation, tailored for the CBBC audience. The episode has received favourable reviews from the BBC’s Executive Producer and sits proudly amongst the other ‘My Life’ episodes.

THE PROCESS
Expanding on concepts from our initial pitch to the BBC, we dived in to the design process and created an on-trend colour palette along with a style guide to appeal to the CBBC audience.
Guided by the script we sketched out the storyboard and produced a colour animatic. One of the challenges we faced was that, due to Covid restrictions, the live action filming had to be rescheduled, meaning that we couldn’t be sure how the style conscious star of the show would be dressed in the final footage until quite late in the design and animation process. Lucky for us, Anita had an outfit that perfectly complimented our designs and all it took was a few last minute refinements to create a seamless transition from live-action Anita to her cartoon form.
We also worked closely with Image Nova to help design and animate motion graphics and kinetic text to compliment the live-action footage and ensure a consistent look and feel throughout the episode.
